About Dr. Fore

Dr. Lavonne Fore has been in the private practice of orthodontics since 1990. She loves the specialty of orthodontics because it makes such a difference in a person's life. A new smile can give self-confidence and increased self-esteem. One of her greatest rewards is seeing her patients at the end of their treatment with a new smile. It is an exciting moment to see a crooked smile become a beautiful smile.

She was born and grew up in Sanford, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS degree. Her dental degree is from the Medical College of Georgia. She earned a master's degree in orthodontics from St. Louis University. Her proudest moment in dental school was being selected for the national dental honorary society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. This award is based on high academic achievements and demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism and ethical character.

She is active in the community being a past president of Quota International of Rome and the Floyd County Dental Society.  Dr. Fore is a member and past board member  of Rome Rotary.  She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Northwest District Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Georgia Association of Orthodontists and the College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontics.

For fun, she exercises at lunch, loves to travel and collect all sort of “old” things. Her husband, Mack, is an attorney who works here in Rome.  Dr. Fore is committed to continuing education and attends many courses and seminars in orthodontics. Board certification was an important milestone for her.

PRESS RELEASE -- March 29, 2001

The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is pleased to announce the Certification of Dr. Lavonne K. Fore on February 26, 2001, as a Diplomate. Certification represents a long and comprehensive process that began with completion of a minimum two years residency in Orthodontics, the passing of an extensive eight hour written examination and the presentation of specific categories of cases treated by the orthodontist to the Directors of the ABO for their thorough evaluation.

The American Board of Orthodontics is the only certifying organization in the specialty of orthodontics that is sanctioned and recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was established in 1929 and was the third certifying board in all of the health professions and the first in dentistry.

Becoming a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics is an elective process and represents the conscientious effort by an orthodontist to excel in the specialty. Certification as a Diplomate signifies a unique achievement. Today there are only 1,900 orthodontists throughout the world who are Diplomates.

Dr. Fore graduated from the Dental School at The Medical College of Georgia and received her master's degree in orthodontics at St. Louis University. She has practiced in Rome since 1990. Dr. Fore welcomes any inquiries about the ABO certification and looks forward to continuing to serve her patients.
